Before there was a firm, there was the impulse to build. For founder Luigi Sison, architecture was never simply a profession; it was a continuation of a childhood instinct to assemble, to refine, and to create objects of purpose.

 

Exposure

Education sharpened that instinct. Graduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis and exposure to the Harvard Graduate School of Design introduced discipline, rigor, and critical thinking. Immersing himself professionally alongside some of the best minds across the United States and Europe expanded his horizon, revealing how architecture operates within complex global systems.

 

Acclimation

Knowledge alone is incomplete without context. Returning to the Philippines in 2007 was a profound reconnection to Filipino roots—a deliberate choice to bring global insights back home to help uplift local architecture and design. This transition demanded a total recalibration: rebuilding networks, unlocking cultural frameworks, and redefining practice within a raw environment.

 

Genesis

In 2008, from the attic of a townhouse, Luigi launched 3Arkitektura—a boutique design firm paired with integrated construction services. What began as a modest studio evolved through persistence, adaptability, and intense collaboration. A decade-long design-build partnership sharpened the studio's execution capabilities, proving that a concept is only as strong as its realization.

 

Evolution

Over time, the practice matured far beyond its initial structure. In 2017, following years of deliberate refinement, D+ARC was born as the definitive next phase. It represents absolute clarity of direction: a commitment to regenerative values, disciplined execution, and active leadership within the built environment.
